Description
I offer psychoeducational evaluations for all learning challenges in children and youth. It helps identify the individual’s strengths and vulnerabilities around core academic areas.
These assessments are for children and youth of varying abilities, including various developmental conditions and cognitive abilities. I use the latest assessment tools brought by Pearson Assessments & Solutions to determine areas of learning challenges and identify any learning disabilities.
I offer comprehensive individualized assessments to meet the student’s specific needs and include a strength-based approach. I work with teachers and parents to help close the achievement gap for students.
Assessments typically require 2-3 sessions to complete. The assessment procedure includes a diagnostic interview, structured testing, assessment reports, and follow up session with parents and school to review the results and areas of intervention. The full process may take up to two to three weeks. The fee for these assessments varies depending on the nature of the problem and the purpose of the evaluation.
The assessment reports are accepted by all educational boards and meet the criteria for granting access arrangements and accommodations to students. My psychoeducational assessments yield recommendations relevant for educational planning.
My most frequently used assessment tools are as follows –
WISC V: Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children Fifth Edition (WISC-V) is an intelligence test that measures a child’s intellectual ability and five cognitive domains that impact performance. It is the most commonly used test to measure students’ cognitive abilities. This latest version of WISC gives me the flexibility and interpretive power to get a broader view of a child’s cognitive abilities. It is used to Identify and diagnose intellectual and learning disabilities and evaluate cognitive processing strengths and weaknesses. It also helps me assess giftedness and the impact of brain injuries.
KTEA 3: Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement Third Edition (KTEA™-3) is an individually administered battery that provides in-depth assessment and evaluation of crucial academic skills. This test helps me empower all my students to succeed and better understand their achievement gaps. It evaluates academic reading, math, written language, and oral language skills, measures progress or response to intervention, and identifies learning disabilities.
WNV – Wechsler® Nonverbal Scale of Ability (WNV™) is a nonverbal measure of ability for culturally and linguistically diverse groups. It is ideal as a nonverbal measure of ability for individuals who are neither English language proficient or may have other speech and language considerations. This tool helps me when language is a barrier to typical administration or where traditional intellectual assessment results are questionable due to language-related difficulties. The WNV is appropriate for all individuals and valid for use with low incidence disorders such as cerebral palsy, aphasia, physically-/multiple-handicapped, and autism spectrum disorders.
SPM & CPM – SPM Raven’s Standard Progressive Matrices™ and Colored Progressive Matrices are nonverbal tests of observation skills and clear-thinking ability. SPM and CPM are versatile, having various applications with children and adults. The test results indicate educative ability or the ability to think clearly and extract meaning out of events.
Other assessment tools are used for measuring the behavior, social skills, and emotional functioning of an Individual.
When persistent learning difficulties stop children from achieving at school, it is essential to assess the student’s needs and provide early intervention. I compile, integrate, and analyze to give you the most relevant information and advice. learn more or schedule an appointment with me today.
