Description
NUMU, from the Arabic word نمو, meaning growth and development, is an 8-week online life skills program designed to help children build confidence, independence, responsibility, and practical everyday skills.
While children spend years learning reading, writing, mathematics, and academic subjects, many grow up without being directly taught the skills they need to manage daily life.
NUMU fills that gap.
Through live, interactive online sessions, children learn practical skills they can use at home, in school, online, and in their communities. Each session is active, engaging, and hands-on. Children do not simply listen. They practise, reflect, complete real tasks, and apply what they learn in their own homes.
NUMU was created by Dr Massrat Shaikh, Educational Psychologist, to support children in developing the real-world skills that help them become more confident, capable, and independent.
The program is built on the understanding that independence does not happen suddenly. It grows through small, guided experiences where children are given the chance to practise responsibility in a safe and supportive way.
NUMU helps children learn how to take care of themselves, make thoughtful decisions, manage everyday situations, and build a stronger sense of capability.

NUMU is designed to involve the family. The learning does not end when the online session ends. It continues at home through practical tasks and parent-supported activities.
?
NUMU is suitable for children aged 9–14 who would benefit from building practical life skills, confidence, independence, and everyday responsibility.
It is not limited to children with learning difficulties or special educational needs. NUMU is for all children who need opportunities to practise the skills that school does not always directly teach.
Children who complete the program receive a:
NUMU Life Skills Certificate of Completion
The certificate recognizes children’s participation, effort, and development across the eight life skills modules.
